KCTE Team Bios
The Kaneb Center for Teaching Excellence team provides programs, services, and resources to help Notre Dame instructors best support student learning in their courses. Our evidence-based workshops help you to create goal-directed, engaged, student-centered learning experiences. Our collaborative consultations aim to meet you where you are, exploring topics including course design, teaching and learning strategies, assessment methods, and more. We aim to accompany you as you reflect on your teaching and pursue teaching excellence.
We are ready to work with you on a range of teaching topics, including:
Inclusive teaching – implementing strategies that aim to ensure that all students succeed at the highest possible level.
Assessment for learning – planning and implementing authentic assessment strategies that both facilitate and measure student progress toward desired learning outcomes
Course design – using backward design principles to ensure that courses remain focused on facilitating students’ achievement of desired learning outcomes.
Active & collaborative learning – identifying strategies that meaningfully engage students and facilitate their achievement of course outcomes.
Gathering early feedback from your students – this process provides students an opportunity to share how things are working and gives you a chance to make adjustments or reinforce the reasoning for the elements of the learning experience that you have designed.
