Victoria Goodrich is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. She joined the Notre Dame faculty in 2011 after completing her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. She spent 7 years as the Director of the First-Year Engineering Program at Notre Dame where she also researched how students form engineering identity and select engineering majors.
Now in the CBE department, Professor Goodrich directs the undergraduate laboratory courses for junior and senior chemical engineers while still teaching in the first year curriculum. While teaching, Professor Goodrich focuses on educational research efforts on how Chemical Engineering students translate learning goals from previous classes to more practically applied laboratory classes. In addition, she is working with Leo McWilliams to study the role of engineering curriculum requirements and differences in high school preparation play a role in student learning and experiences in engineering.
Victoria serves as the advisor to Notre Dame’s chapter of the Society of Women Engineers and is the faculty lead for the Notre Dame site of GE Girls, a summer STEM camp for middle school girls attending South Bend Community Schools. Professor Goodrich has received the Rev. Edmund P. Joyce, C.S.C Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching (2019-2020), Thomas P. Madden Award (2015-2016), Women in Engineering Impact Award (2016), and the SAO Club Advisor of the Year (2019-2020).

Dr. Ohmer is the William T. and Helen Kuhn Carey Associate Professor of Modern Communication in the Department of Film, Television and Theatre. She has been teaching and carrying out research at the University of Notre Dame since 1998 after earning her doctorate in Cinema Studies from New York University. A film historian by training, Dr. Ohmer studies cultural, economic, and political aspects of media industries. She is completing a volume on the Walt Disney studio for the Routledge Hollywood Centenary series.
Dr. Ohmer’s classes often work collaboratively and within interdisciplinary frameworks. During spring 2018 she partnered with library faculty in the University Archives on a seminar to mark the 50th anniversary of the events of 1968. Students worked with primary documents to construct a digital timeline of life at Notre Dame during that era and presented their work to an international conference at the Nanovic Institute. In spring 2019 and 2020 she teamed up with Ph.D. candidate Jacob Coen of the Medieval Institute to develop a new class on Harry Potter, Medievalism, and Transmedia Narratives. The class examined the popular series and its development across multiple media platforms as a paradigm of the nature and function of media texts today.
In spring 2020, Dr. Ohmer was awarded the Rev. Edmund P. Joyce, C.S.C., Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. Dr. Ohmer also serves as the Academic Director of the Notre Dame Debate Program, which won the ACC Debate Championship in 2019 in Washington, D.C.
