Current Faculty Fellows
Peter Bui is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. After three years at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, he returned to his alma mater in 2015 and became a “quadruple” domer.
In the CSE department, Professor Bui teaches a number of core and elective courses including Systems Programming, Operating System Principles, Programming Challenges, Open Source Software development, and Hackers in the Bazaar. Due to his interest in sharing the beauty and joy of Computer Science with everyone, he has helped develop and teach courses in the Computing and Digital Technologies Minor within the College of Arts and Letters such as Elements of Computing I and II, and Ethical and Professional Issues, which he also sometimes teaches as part of the Engineering Summer Study Abroad program. Furthermore, he created the Principles of Computing course to satisfy the Science and Technology university core requirement for first year students.
Outside of teaching, Peter serves as the advisor of the Notre Dame Linux Users Group, where he shares his passion and interest for Linux, open source, and technology with students, faculty, and alumni. Professor Bui has received the Rev. Edmund P. Joyce, C.S.C Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching (2021-2022), College of Engineering Outstanding Teacher Award (2017), Frank O’Malley Teaching Award (2017), and the Computer Science and Engineering Outstanding Teaching Award (2016, 2022).

Anjuli Datta is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Dept. of Biological Sciences.
Professor Datta has taught a variety of undergraduate courses, which include upper level Biochemistry, Cell Biology and Genetics courses to premeds as well as Science Elective (General Education) courses for non-science majors. She has designed a variety of teaching methods and classroom activities, within an organized framework, to enable students to learn
core concepts, and to promote their enthusiasm and passion for biology. Professor Datta uses medical relevance lectures, the incorporation of scientific research, and group case studies to provide students with numerous ways to apply course topics. She promotes in-class discussion
and peer-to-peer interactions to nurture an inquiry driven inclusive environment, where students are encouraged to ask questions and provide their feedback on course topics. She has been successful in utilizing active learning models to promote class engagement in a virtual and
hybrid setting.
Professor Datta has served on the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee and collaboratively developed a new Introductory Biology course sequence, contributing all aspects of course design, content development, and assessment methodology. Professor Datta promotes and implements career-related events in her role as a Career Adviser in the Department of Biological Sciences.
Prior to joining Notre Dame, Professor Datta was a Lecturer and Undergraduate Program Adviser in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Penn State University (2009-2015).

Rebecca Tinio McKenna is an Associate Professor in the Department of History. She has been teaching, researching, and writing at the University of Notre Dame since 2011. Her undergraduate work in American Studies at Barnard College sparked her fascination with American social and cultural history; through graduate work at Yale University, she added interests in the intersections of capitalism and culture and the history of the United States in the world. These concerns came together in her first book project, American Imperial Pastoral: US Designs on the Philippines (Chicago), which was awarded the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations’ Myrna F. Bernath book prize. McKenna’s interests in culture, capitalism, and empire shape her current research on the history of the piano, work that has been supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
At Notre Dame, McKenna teaches first-year undergraduates through graduate students in courses including “United States in the World,” “Gilded Age and Progressive Era,” “Listening to the Gilded Age,” “Interwar U.S.A.,” and courses that equip new majors with historical analysis and writing skills and senior thesis students with the tools and the confidence to design and execute an extended historical study. McKenna especially enjoys guiding students through research projects, big and small, and aiding them in becoming interpreters of the past and authors of history. In 2021, she won a Rev. Edmund P. Joyce, C.S.C. Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.
