Ashley Henry

Ashley Henry is the Program Director for Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Development in Notre Dame Learning’s Kaneb Center for Teaching Excellence, where she is also an Assistant Teaching Professor. Ashley works closely with graduate students and postdocs to aid in their development as facilitators and instructors. She designs, develops, and delivers programming for these groups, such as TA orientation, classroom observations, the Foundations of Teaching series, and ND Learning’s teaching certificates. Additionally, she facilitates workshops, provides feedback on teaching portfolios, and consults on pedagogy.

Ashley’s academic background is in botany and statistics. While in graduate school, she taught several botany courses and received a minor through over 15 credits in courses that focus on effective teaching practices. She also worked in a STEM-focused program, WISCIENCE, to learn about effective pedagogy in the STEM classroom, develop and teach her own unit, and, as a graduate intern, teach successive cohorts about effective teaching in STEM classrooms. After this experience, she worked with graduate students to give feedback on their teaching and guest taught an undergraduate course on effective and inclusive mentorship.

Ashley earned her B.S. in biology from Truman State University and her M.S. and Ph.D. in botany at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
