Incorporating Active Learning Techniques into Tutorials to Improve Student Learning
While active learning techniques have been demonstrated to improve students’ understanding and retention of material, determining how to incorporate these techniques best can be difficult. This workshop is designed to help graduate students responsible for conducting tutorials by providing concrete strategies for restructuring class time to use active learning techniques. Participants will leave the workshop with strategies for encouraging student problem-solving and engagement as well as an understanding of potential pitfalls to avoid when implementing these new strategies.
