How It Works: The 20-Minute Blueprint
Every session follows a What, Why, How format. This one will cover:
- What: Adding short, text descriptions to images, charts, and graphs.
- Why: Without alt text, a screen reader will either skip the image entirely or read out a chaotic file name like "IMG_4920.jpg," leaving some users disconnected from the content.
- How: How to write concise, context-driven descriptions—both on your own and assisted by AI—and how to mark purely decorative images so screen readers know to skip them.
To help you save even more time, we will also highlight smart strategies for leveraging generative AI to fast-track these accessibility fixes wherever possible.
You’ll leave every session not just with awareness, but with a practical skill you can apply to your Canvas site or instructional materials before your next class begins.
