Teaching laboratories and tutorials requires TAs to respond to student questions in the moment. This is a crucial opportunity to further students’ understanding but is more than just telling students the correct answer. In this workshop, we will explore how to decode student questions to determine what they are really asking, learn strategies that help the students learn the material to answer their own questions, and how to ensure students feel comfortable asking questions in an appropriate manner.
