Difficult Conversations in the Classroom
Description:
This workshop will provide strategies for converting difficult conversations into productive exchange within the classroom. As students face contentious elections, racial justice protests, and language surrounding COVID-19, we will also introduce resources to help them respond to potentially charged topics.
Learning Goals:
After successfully completing this workshop you will be able to:
- Recognize the pedagogical implications of difficult conversations
- Learn strategies to facilitate these conversations before, during, and after the incident
- Practice responding to students’ reactions to current events
