Elizabeth Moison

Liz Moison is a graduate associate at Notre Dame Learning’s Kaneb Center for Teaching Excellence and a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Notre Dame, where she studies the growing movement around censoring books in schools and public libraries. Liz received her M.A. in sociology from Notre Dame in 2022 and her B.A. in sociology with a minor in education from Tufts University in 2020.

She has conducted research on schools and political engagement, gender and interactions, and student organizations that foster political activism. She was a graduate justice fellow at the Institute for Social Concerns in 2023, and her research interests include social movements, gender, and education. She has taught for the sociology department at Notre Dame and started teaching sociology at Morton College in Chicago in fall 2026.

Liz’s pedagogical interests include developing new practices for engaging students in the age of AI, integrating hands-on elements into typically writing-heavy disciplines, and fostering compassionate learning environments for all students.
