Beatrice Maria Rosso is a graduate associate at Notre Dame Learning’s Kaneb Center for Teaching Excellence. She is a third-year Ph.D. student in Italian studies at Notre Dame, with a minor in medieval studies, and she currently serves as a graduate student representative of the Dante Society of America. Beatrice earned both her B.A. and M.A. in Italian studies from the Alma Mater Studiorum–University of Bologna.

At Notre Dame, Beatrice’s dissertation explores how the rewriting of cosmogonical passages in Dante’s Commedia informs and authorizes the poetic invention of the afterlife. Her research examines the way in which Dante integrates metaphysical, scientific, and linguistic ideas into his vision of creation.

Beatrice’s pedagogical interests focus primarily on second-language acquisition and on creating optimal classroom environments that foster effective and engaging learning experiences.
