Waseer Mohamed is a graduate associate at Notre Dame Learning’s Kaneb Center for Teaching Excellence and a third-year Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. He earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from Columbia University and a B.A. in chemistry from Bard College.

Waseer’s research leverages hysteretic organic mixed ionic-electronic conductors (OMIECs) for the selective detection of environmental pollutants. His work integrates electrochemistry, material science, and operando x-ray scattering tools to understand fundamental structure–property relationships and develop next-generation sensing technologies.

Waseer’s pedagogical interests focus on helping students bridge engineering theory and practice through hands-on learning, research mentorship, and the thoughtful integration of artificial intelligence into STEM education and research.
