Charlie Serigne

Charlie Serigne is a graduate associate at Notre Dame Learning’s Kaneb Center for Teaching Excellence and a third-year Ph.D. student in English with a minor in gender studies at the University of Notre Dame. He received his M.A. and B.A. in English literature at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Charlie’s work blends medieval and queer studies, his research exploring the subversion of normative temporalities, the construction of heroism in Old English prose and poetry, and the role of providence and fate in individual agency and subjectivity. He enjoys early medieval literature and monstrosity in all forms.

Charlie has taught several Writing and Rhetoric courses both at Notre Dame and at UL Lafayette. In terms of pedagogy, his interests lie in accessible and inclusive teaching practices, embodied learning, and facilitating student engagement.
