Converting
videotapes to CD or DVD
Sunny Boyd, Biology,
wanted to easily incorporate CNN footage into her lectures. We digitized VHS tapes into QuickTime movie files and
saved them on a CD for her. We also helped a sociology professor
create a DVD of short clips from a variety of movies for his class.

Enhancing
a face-to-face course with online discussion
Jane Doering,
Core, wanted to increase student engagement in her course. We
helped
the class use the WebCT
discussion tool
discussion area as a vehicle for out-of-class conversation.
Some large lecture courses also use discussions
as a way to share frequently-asked questions. |

Moving
from overhead transparencies to PowerPoint
Joel Hodson,
American Studies, wanted to modernize his collection of overhead
illustrations. We scanned the transparencies
and helped him create PowerPoint
presentations for his course. We can help faculty improve the effectiveness
of this popular tool in their classrooms. |

Chemistry
animations
Rich Taylor, Chemistry, wanted
to bring to life a series of still pictures that showed a chemical
reaction. We used Macromedia Director to create the animation,
which he posted in his WebCT
course. We can also create animations with Flash.
